Q: What Level am I?
A: We've made it simple to determine your level:
- Performance snowboards and skis are designed for beginner to intermediate riders that have been skiing or snowboarding 3-4 times before and want to take it to the next level.
- Ultimate snowboards and skis are top of the line. The tastiest treats for those that appreciate a nicer ride, and specialist skis and boards for intermediate to experienced skiers and boarders.
Q: Do we get discounts for Multi-day rental?
A: You bet! If you rent for 6 days or longer you will receive 20% discount, for rental of 4-5 days you will receive a 10% discount.
Q: Are there special rates available for large groups?
A: If you have a group of 9 or more people email us the details of your trip and we will suss you out with our group rates!
Q: Is there discount for students?
A: Yes, students get 10% off their rental with valid Student I.D. (normal discounts applies after 4 days)
Q: Can we pick up our ski or snowboard equipment the day before?
A: Just pop in anytime after 3pm to our Queenstown or Wanaka stores to collect your gear, and there is no charge for that day's rental. Please be aware if you have requested a specific model, it may not be available until the following day as will be already on the hill and it will need servicing overnight.
Q: When should I make my reservation?
A: We highly recommend you reserve and book your gear online or come in store as early as possible, as during peak periods, it may not be available. Try getting a quote before you book!
Q: Do you have a refund policy?
A: Sure do! We will gladly give you a refund if in the event, both mountains are closed or if you incur serious injury.
Q: What's the deal with insurance?
A: We offer optional rental insurance for $3 per day which covers repairable damage. If damage is non-repairable and the hirer has insurance they pay the cost price for the replacement. If no insurance is taken in this instance the hirer would pay the retail price for the replacement. Insurance does not cover theft of equipment.
Q: Where is Base Rentals?
A: Base Ultimate Rentals now has two locations
– 12 Helwick St, Wanaka
– 19 Grant Road, Queenstown Central shopping complex, Frankton (opposite K Mart).
Q: What ski area should I go to?
A: There are 6 ski areas within easy reach of Queenstown and Wanaka plus acres of heli access mountains in the wider Southern Lakes area.
